don’t worry, you won’t fall

I’m currently in the middle of preparing for some big tests, but I just wanted to share some encouragement in case you, too, are in the midst of preparing for something big.

The tests that I’m studying for are, in a way, make or break for my future. There’s no way around it- its a lot of pressure. I don’t know if you are going through something similar. Maybe its big tests like me, maybe its something else in your life. Maybe its a series of small obstacles that when put together, look way too big.

As I was thinking about writing some encouragement (for myself + whoever reads it), I began to think about my go-to verse – Psalm 46:10- “Be still and know that I am God.” Most of us have heard this verse, as it is one of the most famous and most beautiful verses in the Bible. I decided that it was probably a good idea to read the whole psalm so that I could write about it in context first. I’ll admit, I probably don’t do this as often as I should. As I opened my Bible to Psalm 46 and began reading, there was another verse that stopped me in my tracks.

“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”

Automatically, things started falling into place in my head. God wanted me to read the psalm so that I could come across this verse. I will not fall because He is within me. And neither will you. He will help us. He wants to help us.

When I’m feeling stressed out and overwhelmed, unsure about the future, the only way I can get myself out of that is with some truth. You see, nothing is a surprise to God. The future is not a mystery or question mark to Him. He knows exactly what will happen. That is a huge comfort to me, knowing that everything isn’t just up in the air, but actually its known by the one who loves me most. And its not just known by Him, but worked out by Him, meaning that whether it seems good or bad when it happens, it will all come together for my good (and your good) in the end. This doesn’t mean that things will always go the way you want because He’s on your side. It means that ultimately, things will go the way He wants. But not to worry, because with the amount of love He has for you, it will always be in your best interest.

So take a breath of relief tonight. Your situation isn’t out of control. Don’t let it overwhelm you. Instead, let it lead you into the arms of the one who is in control. And on your side. He’s within you, and will not let you fall. If what you want is best for you, that is exactly what you will get. It may take mistakes and learning, second chances and fighting for it, but you will get it. If there is something that God knows is better, He will lead you to that. You just have to let Him help you. So whatever situation you’re in, the good news is, God is in control. Look for the good. And if you can’t see the good, look for the God in your situation. He’s there, I promise, and closer than you think.
